UP violence to be questioned: Nitish
Patna, Sept 21: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that the communal violence at Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh would be raised at the upcoming National Integration Council Meeting.

Stating that his government was proactive in quelling communal disturbances, Kumar said district magistrates and superintendents of police were accountable for outbreak of communal violence in their districts.

In the event of communal violence, initiative was taken at a high level to stop it, he said.

Kumar was speaking to reporters at Patna Airport after returning from a three-day trip to Delhi where he met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Union Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar over drought in 33 of 38 districts in the state.

Kumar, who has sought Rs 12,000 crore for relief work in the drought-hit districts, said he told them about the inadequate rainfall and requested the the PM to send a central team to assess the situation. "The central team is expected to arrive in October for assessing the drought situation," he added.
