Muzaffarnagar riots: Statement of gangrape victim recorded
Muzaffarnagar, Feb 4: A victim of gangrape in Phugana village during Muzaffarnagar riots has recorded her statement in a court here.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar had earlier rejected the closure report of SIT in which it had given a clean chit to five persons accused of raping a woman during 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.
Kumar had reopened the case, which the SIT had closed citing lack of evidence, and fixed February 4 for recording statement of victim woman. The court ordered reopening of the case on the basis of petition filed by the 30-year-old woman.
A total of seven gangrape cases, including six in Phugana village and one in Lank village, were registered against 27 people. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the riots had found the involvement of 25 people in six gangrape cases.
All 25 have been arrested. More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and its adjoining areas in September 2013.
