The suspension of employees comes a week after four railway officials were sacked, including senior divisional engineer, after a probe report on the Kalinga Utkal Express crash blamed staff's negligence for the derailment that killed at least 20 people and injured 90.

Besides, the Railway Board had also sent three officials on leave, including Northern Railway General Manager RK Kulshreshtra, Railway Board Member Engineering Aditya Mittal and Divisional Railway Manager Delhi RN Singh and transferred Chief Track Engineer of Northern Railway.

Fourteen coaches of the express train, which was on way to Haridwar from Puri, went off the tracks on Friday close to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, with carriages slamming into one another and crashing into a house close by.
