FIR Registered After Discovery of Mutilated Stray Dog in Okhla, Delhi Raises Animal Cruelty Concerns

A gruesome discovery of a female stray dog's mutilated body in southeast Delhi's Okhla area has led to an FIR being registered, police reported. The complaint was filed by the Gau Gyan Foundation at Jamia Nagar police station. "We have received a complaint regarding the brutal killing of a stray dog and legal action has been initiated in this regard," stated a senior police officer.

FIR Filed for Mutilated Stray Dog in Okhla

The NGO reported receiving disturbing images and videos of the dog's remains, found on Moti Masjid road. The dog, regularly fed by a local resident, vanished around July 20 and was discovered dead on July 23 with its throat slit and private parts removed. The NGO highlighted that this is not an isolated case, noting similar acts of cruelty reported by feeders in nearby areas.

Community Concerns Over Repeated Incidents

There is growing suspicion among residents that a group of drug addicts might be responsible for these repeated acts of cruelty. A local resident expressed distress, saying, "I have not been able to eat or sleep after witnessing the state of the dogs." Initially, the disappearances were not taken seriously until carcasses with slit throats began appearing.

Another resident mentioned that such incidents occurred two years ago when several offenders were detained but later released. Since then, there had been no issues until dogs started disappearing again last month. Despite these ongoing incidents, the NGO claims no significant action has been taken by authorities.

Challenges in Gathering Evidence

The NGO has provided video evidence and urged the police to review CCTV footage from July 20 to 24 to identify those responsible. However, residents are hesitant to share their CCTV footage due to safety concerns. The community's fear has hindered efforts to gather more evidence against the perpetrators.

The situation has left residents anxious and demanding action from authorities to prevent further cruelty against animals in their area. The Gau Gyan Foundation continues to push for justice and hopes that reviewing the CCTV footage will lead to identifying and apprehending those involved.
