15 Muslim Candidates Triumph in Lok Sabha Elections, Including Yusuf Pathan

In a significant outcome from the recent Lok Sabha elections, at least 15 Muslim candidates have emerged victorious across various constituencies in India. Among the winners is the Trinamool Congress (TMC) nominee and former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, who clinched a victory in West Bengal's Baharampur, a stronghold of Congress veteran Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. This election saw 78 Muslim candidates contesting, a noticeable decrease from the previous count of 115.

Muslim Wins in Lok Sabha Polls

Noteworthy victories include Congress candidate Imran Masood in Saharanpur, who won by a margin of 64,542 votes. Iqra Choudhary, a young 29-year-old Samajwadi Party candidate, defeated BJP's Pradeep Kumar in Kairana with a lead of 69,116 votes. Ghazipur witnessed Afzal Ansari retaining his seat with 5.3 lakh votes, while AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi secured his position in Hyderabad by a significant margin over BJP's Madhavi Latha Kompella.

In the northern territories, Independent candidates made their mark with Mohammad Haneefa winning in Ladakh and Abdul Rashid Sheikh securing Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir. Uttar Pradesh saw Samajwadi Party's Mohibbullah winning the Rampur seat and Zia Ur Rehman emerging victorious in Sambhal. Mian Altaf Ahmad of the National Conference won against former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti in Anantnag-Rajouri.

Yusuf Pathan's victory in Baharampur by 85,022 votes against Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury marked a significant moment, showcasing the changing dynamics in West Bengal politics. This election has highlighted the diverse representation and shifting political landscapes across India.
