Murli Manohar Joshi Says World Passing Through Dangerous Times
BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said the world is passing through dangerous times and exhorted people to take recourse to Indian philosophy for peace and prosperity.
New Delhi: Veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has warned of a grave crisis engulfing the world, describing these times as dangerous. He urged people to seek refuge in Indian philosophy for peace and prosperity. Addressing the launch of RSS functionary and ideologue Manmohan Vaidyas book titled We and the World Around here, Joshi expressed concern over the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war.
World May Not Be Habitable Beyond 50 Years

Joshi expressed deep concern about the emerging situations in the world, saying it appears that humans may not be able to survive on Earth for more than 50 years. He referred to a warning issued by the then UN secretary general in 1979, who had said that if leaders did not give up the arms race and countries continued to attack each other and destroy nature, the world would face serious problems in the next 10-20 years. While humanity somehow managed to survive those 10-20 years, Joshi expressed doubts about the ability to endure the next 50 years. He emphasized that climate champions have already declared the situation as do-or-die.
World is Deeply Divided, Says Joshi
Joshi painted a grim picture of the current global situation, highlighting the prevalence of guns, rockets, bombings, massacres, threats, and warnings of another World War. He questioned the effectiveness of the United Nations, suggesting that it has become useless and its chief should resign. The veteran leader described the world as deeply divided, with a struggling global economy and repeated warnings from global institutions about uncertain outcomes. He characterized the world as highly turbulent, violent, and fundamentalist.
Indian Philosophy Offers Solution
Joshi asserted that peace is nowhere to be found in the world, which he described as out of balance and topsy turvy. He attributed the root cause of these global issues to the idea of "we and they" and the prevailing focus on the individual. In contrast, he extolled the virtues of Indian philosophy, which emphasizes moksha (liberation) as the ultimate objective. He urged people to embrace Indian spiritual thoughts and philosophy as the solution to the world's problems.
Understanding the RSS
Manmohan Vaidya, the RSS functionary and author of the book, acknowledged the difficulty in understanding the RSS from an outsider's perspective. However, he suggested that it becomes easier to comprehend once one becomes a part of the organization. Vaidya emphasized the need to understand India, particularly Indian thoughts, in order to truly understand the Sangh.
Sanatan Dharma and India's Existence
Juna Akhara Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri, another attendee at the event, highlighted the significance of Sanatan Dharma in India's existence. He praised India's age-old thoughts, knowledge, and traditions. Swami Avdheshanand Giri also drew attention to the fact that a substantial number of Muslims living in Israel support the country rather than Hamas, expressing concern about some Indians siding with Hamas.
Murli Manohar Joshi's grave warning about the world's current state and the need to turn to Indian philosophy for peace and prosperity serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing humanity. The ongoing conflicts, global divisions, and environmental crises demand urgent attention and innovative solutions. By embracing the wisdom of India's spiritual traditions, we may find the path to a more harmonious and sustainable future.
