Shocking: Mumbai youth rapes Facebook friend on pretext of marriage

Mumbai, Nov 10: The Mumbai police have arrested a 25-year-old youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after befriending her on Facebook.

According to reports, the accused Satyajit alias Vicky Kharat (25), resident of Bandra became friend of the 27-year-old woman through Facebook in April this year. Following this the duo started meeting with each other and fell in love.

In her complaint, the woman said that when she came to Mumbai in July this year to meet him, Vicky took her to a place in Bandra and allegedly raped her. She also said that on the pretext of marrying her he also took away her gold ring but later refused to do so.

Soon, Vicky started distancing himself from her. She then went to the Sanghvi police station in Pune and filed a case against him. The Pune Police transferred the case to Nirmal Nagar police station in Bandra which arrested Vicky under sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 504 (intentional insult) and 323 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.

Kharat has been remanded in police custody till November 12.
