Mumbai rains: Leave of all BMC employees cancelled

Being on your two feet may be uncomfortable but safer, the Mumbai police said on its Twitter handle.

This is an exceptional situation, the BMC said on the Mumbai rains while cancelling the leave of all its workers. Late Tuesday night the leave of all the BCM workers was cancelled and they were asked to report to duty.

All personnel part of critical departments will be at work today to ensure that the city returns to normalcy and people are attended to. The BEST buses had the most work to do as the drivers ploughed through waist deep water.

    The Mumbai police advised people to abandon their vehicles if water levels reached the level of the tyres. Being on your two feet may be uncomfortable but safer, the Mumbai police said on its Twitter handle.

    In the Western suburbs, there were power cuts. Other parts of the city too witnessed power cuts. Flight services too were hit. Some flights were delayed while others were cancelled.
