Mumbai, July 28: Mumbai has today been set on high alert after the Mumbai police received a warning letter from Mujahideen, threatening to attack the city to avenge the deaths in Gaza.

Mumbai Police control room received the one-page, addressed to Commissioner Rakesh Maria, through post. It read:

"We will take revenge for Gaza. In 1993, you (Maria) got a chance. This time you won't. Stop us if you can." undersigned Mujahideen

The rest of the contents were written both in Hindi and in English, indicating similar threats.

Maria, however, has assured that the authenticity of the letter is being confirmed and that the police is not taking things lightly. "The Crime Branch and all the police stations have been alerted," he added.

Maria said he had recently issued an internal circular to the police department, mentioning terror attacks at various places in Mumbai as well as the whole state during the "festival season" and asked the personnel to be alert.

Maria, was incharge of investigating the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). He did a credible work in rounding up several members of the Dawood Ibrahim gang and other members of his family.
