Mumbai: Police arrests six persons for raping and blackmailing minor for a year
The Mumbai police arrested six accused out of the 9 who sexually assaulted a minor and then later blackmailed her with a video clip in a chawl in Mumbai's Vile Parle.
The 15-year-old had been facing this since a year. The girl had approached one of the accused for some personal matter. Later they got into a relationship.
According to a report by NDTV, the man made a video clip of their intimate moments and circulated it among his friends. After which everyone took advantage of her and started blackmailing her. When the harassment was unbearable, the girl revealed to her mother.
Based on the complaint, the police were able to arrest the accused.
The police said all the accused are known to the girl, live in the same locality and are aged between 20 and 25 years, except for a 30-year-old, whose mother is an ex-corporator and with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
A case has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
