Mumbai: Petition against "no muslim" ad poster

Maharashtra
Mumbai, Nov 8: An anti-Muslim ad posted on a popular property site 99acres.com has sparked controversy. A mumbai broker had put up an ad for the sale of a flat saying "No Muslims are welcome".

The ad read,"Excellent brand new 2BHK fully furnished flat with cross ventilation, natural light. Cosmopolitan society, no Muslims, with car parking on immediate sale, fifth floor interested please call."

On verifying, the flat society said that it entertained veg occupants.

Following this, Shehzad Poonawala has now petitioned the National Commission for Minorities. Meanwhile, in a statement 99acres.com said,"Our company is totally against such discriminatory practices. At any point of time 99acres has over 400,000 classified listings. These are uploaded directly by advertisers on the site using our self-service online interface. We are deeply embarrassed that our site was misused in this manner."
