Mumbai Man Held for Kidnapping Minor Girl in Goa

A 21-year-old man from Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old girl residing in a hostel in North Goa. The accused, Akshay Tayde, was arrested after technical surveillance identified his location in Mumbai. The motive behind the abduction is yet to be known.

On Tuesday, January 9, the Panaji police arrested a 21-year-old man from Mumbai for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl residing in a hostel in North Goa. The accused, identified as Akshay Tayde, originally from Bhopal, was apprehended for abducting the 14-year-old girl from a hostel in Mapusa town, located approximately 9 kilometers from the state capital, Panaji.

Motive Behind Abduction Unknown

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi informed reporters that the motive behind the kidnapping remains unknown. The hostel warden filed a complaint against an unidentified individual after the girl went missing. According to the complaint, the girl left the hostel on January 7 to visit a market in Mapusa but never returned.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Based on the complaint, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping and also invoked the Goa Children's Act against the unknown person. Through technical surveillance, the police identified the accused and discovered that he was moving with the victim in Mumbai, approximately 600 kilometers from Goa.

The Goa police contacted their counterparts at the Naupada police station in Mumbai, who assisted in tracing the accused. After being placed under arrest, Tayde was brought back to Mapusa from Mumbai.

The investigation into the kidnapping is ongoing, and the police are working to determine the motive behind the abduction. The arrest of the accused provides a significant breakthrough in the case, and the authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the minor girl.
