Mumbai Local Train Service News: Changes In Ticketing For Mahaparinirvana Day – Here’s What You Need To Know

In anticipation of the significant crowd expected for Babasaheb Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvana Day on December 6, the Bharat Ratna Central Railway has announced a temporary suspension of 'Platform Ticket' sales at key stations across several divisions, according to Lokmat report. This move, effective from December 2 to December 9, aims to manage the anticipated surge of visitors and ensure the safety and convenience of passengers. The railway authority has taken this step to facilitate a smoother flow of traffic on platforms during this period.

Exemptions from this temporary restriction have been thoughtfully considered for senior citizens and individuals with medical conditions, allowing them uninterrupted access despite the widespread ban. This measure underscores the railway's commitment to maintaining accessibility for all passengers under special circumstances while managing crowd control effectively.

The stations affected by this temporary suspension span multiple divisions, including the Mumbai Division with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Thane, and Kalyan; the Bhusawal Division with stations such as Badnera, Akola, and Bhusawal, among others; the Nagpur Division, featuring Nagpur; the Pune Division, including Pune; and the Solapur Division, covering Solapur. This widespread suspension reflects the extensive measures being taken to ensure public safety and order during the commemorative event.

"This decision was taken to control the crowd on the platform and to avoid inconvenience to the followers coming from all over the country to greet Babasaheb Ambedkar and for the safety of the passengers in the station area," stated Railways as per the report. This quote emphasizes the importance placed on both honouring the memory of Babasaheb Ambedkar and ensuring the well-being of those who come to pay their respects as well as regular passengers.

As Mahaparinirvana Day approaches, a time when followers from across the nation gather to honour the memory of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the temporary halt on 'Platform Ticket' sales represents a significant measure by the railways to manage the considerable influx of visitors. This decision, while focusing on crowd management and safety, also highlights the railway's efforts to accommodate the needs of vulnerable groups amidst these restrictions.
