Mumbai High Tide Timing Today: Warning Issued For Low-lying Areas, Disruptions Expected

Heavy rains continue to batter Mumbai as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'red' alert and high tide warning for the financial city on Tuesday.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) predicts a cloudy sky with intermittent moderate to heavy spells of rain in the city and suburbs. A high tide of 4.31 meters is expected at 2:33 pm, with a low tide of 1.63 meters at 8:36 pm. Another high tide is anticipated on Wednesday.

BMC Commissioner and administrator Bhushan Gagarani urged citizens to stay indoors unless necessary. "The BMC has put all its disaster management teams on high alert. Citizens are advised not to panic and can contact the BMC's disaster management cell on 1916 for any assistance," he said.

The heavy rain has led to waterlogged railway tracks at Wadala Station, delaying suburban Harbor line services. Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Dhanraj Nila stated that the Harbour line track was operational again at 4:30 am after the water receded. "Main Line both fast and slow locals are running 2-3 minutes behind schedule, and Harbour line locals are running almost on time now," he added.

Several trains have been rescheduled. Train No. 11061 from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Jaynagar is rescheduled to 13:55 hours from 11:30 hours. Train No. 04126 (BDTS - SFG) Bandra Terminus Subedarganj Special J.C.O, scheduled to depart at 11:00 am, is now rescheduled to 15:30 hours from Bandra Terminus.

Exams postponed, schools closed

The University of Mumbai has postponed all exams scheduled for Tuesday in light of the heavy rain affecting Mumbai, Mumbai Suburbs, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. New dates will be announced soon.

The BMC has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the city and suburbs on Tuesday. Schools and colleges in Navi Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Alibaug, and Panvel will also remain closed on Tuesday.

The IMD's latest forecast places Mumbai under a red alert until 1 pm on Tuesday. Raigad and Ratnagiri districts are also under a red alert until Tuesday afternoon, while Palghar and Thane are under an orange alert.
