New Controversy: After Asaram, Nithyananda, now godwoman Radhe Maa in trouble

Mumbai, Aug 4: Swami Nithyananda, Nirmal Baba, Asaram Bapu and many more self-proclaimed godmen have already made headlines in the country. Now, for the first time a godwoman Radhe Maa landed in trouble.

Radhe Maa, who has been known as one of the most popular spiritual leaders of the country, has been accused of instigating a family to harass a woman for dowry.

A legal case under the Dowry Prohibition Act has been filed against Radhe Maa by Nikki Gupta. Nikki also accused her husband and in-laws of harassing her for dowry.

The complainant claimed that her parents had given jewellery worth Rs 102 crore at the time of her marriage. But Radhe Maa allegedly had asked her in-laws to pressurise the girl to get more dowry from her parents.

The in-laws of the complainant are staunch believers of Radhe Maa. The complainant was quoted as saying, "My husband and in-laws used to say I had not got enough jewellery and cash from my parents."

Meanwhile, another woman hurled another allegations against Radhe Maa. The self-styled godwoman has been accused of performing obscene and vulgar dance steps with her followers during satsangs (spiritual discourses).

Earlier several allegations were hurled against other self-proclaimed godmen, such as Swami Nithyanada, Nirmal Baba, Asaram Bapu. A obscene video had become viral in 2008 when Nithyananda was seen in compromising position with a South Indian actress. He was arrested and later was released on bail.

Nirmal Baba, another spiritual leader, was accused of duping his followers. He was also accused of amassing wealth and property worth Rs 238 crore by misguiding people.

Asaram Bapu, who is still in jail, was accused of raping a girl in his ashram near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Many other sexual harassment cases too were reported against him.
