Mumbai: Fed up of eve-teasing, college girl commits suicide

Mumbai, Aug 20: Fed up of facing humiliation due to eve-teasing by her 'stalker', an 18-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in north Maharashtra's Jalgaon district, police said.

The girl was a student of a college at Pachora town in Jalgaon, they said. The incident took place on August 17 when the girl consumed rat poison as she was fed up with the humiliation faced due to eve-teasing, an official at Pachora police station said.

The victim's alleged stalker, identified as Sharad Patil (25), was arrested on the same day, police said.

The accused used to allegedly stalk her wherever she went and eve-teased her, the officer said. Patil was yesterday produced before a local court which remanded him in two days police custody, police said.
