Six Held for Extortion Bid of Rs 164 Crore in Mumbai
In a shocking incident, six individuals have been arrested in Mumbai for attempting to extort a whopping Rs 164 crore from a real estate developer. The main accused, a former partner of the complainant, resorted to threats of initiating an ED probe and even murder if the money was not paid.
In a shocking turn of events, the Mumbai Police have apprehended six individuals for attempting to extort a staggering sum of Rs 164 crore from a prominent real estate developer. The accused resorted to threats, including initiating an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe and even resorting to violence, to coerce the developer into submission.

Main Accused: Former Partner Turned Adversary
The mastermind behind this extortion plot is none other than a builder who once shared a partnership with the complainant in a real estate project. However, due to unsatisfactory work performance, the housing society entrusted the entire development rights to the complainant, leaving the accused builder sidelined.
Escalating Tensions and Threats
Despite being compensated for his dues, the accused builder harbored resentment and sought retribution. Earlier this month, the complainant learned of the accused's intentions to file complaints against him with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police and the ED. In an attempt to resolve the matter amicably, the complainant met with his former partner at a cafe.
However, instead of seeking resolution, the accused took advantage of the situation and demanded an exorbitant sum of Rs 164 crore. To further intimidate the complainant, he threatened to instigate an ED investigation and even went as far as threatening to have him killed.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
The complainant, unwilling to succumb to these threats, promptly reported the incident to the authorities. Consequently, a case under section 386 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for extortion by putting a person in fear of death was registered at the Bandra Police Station. The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the investigation to delve deeper into the matter and bring all the perpetrators to justice.
This audacious extortion attempt serves as a stark reminder of the lengths to which individuals will go to acquire wealth and power. The swift action taken by the Mumbai Police demonstrates their commitment to upholding the law and protecting citizens from such criminal activities. As the investigation unfolds, it is crucial to ensure that justice prevails and the victims receive the restitution they deserve.
