Mumbai: Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar duped, conman arrested

Mumbai, July 24: Hemal Mehta, the infamous conman, has been arrested, yet again. Mumbai Police arrested him on Wednesday, July 20. He has been accused of cheating many people including Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar.

34-year-old Mehta is a resident of Malad, Mumbai. According to sources, he posed as a travel agent and cheated many people on pretext of booking flight tickets was arrested by the Bandra police.

This was not the first time when Mehta got arrested for cheating cases. He first was arrested in Jan 2015 when Urmila Matondkar filed a complaint against him. Now, cop have been making a list of people who have been duped by Mehta.

The conman was accused of taking Rs 4.65 lakhs from a Bandra-based jeweler. The victim reportedly had paid Rs 4.65 lakh to Mehta in Dec 2014. The jeweler asked Mehta to book tickets for Singapore and Dubai. However, Mehta never turned up with his tickets as he had gone into hiding.

Mumbai Police said that they were looking for Mehta for a long time as many cheating cases were filed against him. Finally, the investigating officers received information about him and arrested Mehta on Wednesday.

The conman later was produced before a magistrate in Bandra court which sent him to police custody.
