Lucknow, July 19: Even the brutal rape of a medical research institute employee did not rock the conscience of Mulayam Singh, Akhilesh Yadav and Co. Naresh Agarwal, a senior SP leader bluntly said that these incidents happen everywhere in India; its just the media that is sensationalising UP too much.

If you call that a self-defence, brace yourself for more. SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said,"Look at the total population of Uttar Pradesh, it has a 21 crore population, if there is a state with lowest such cases, it is UP. State government has taken action." He further added,"Such incidents can happen, I don't deny it but media should not highlight so much. State government is taking appropriate action in the case."

The 25-year old widow was gangraped and murdered in Lucknow. Almost akin to the December 16 2012 gangrape case, the woman bore several injuries and internal haemorrages that were caused by blunt objects.

IG Law and Order Amrinder Singh Sengar said,"We have found a woman's body. A probe is underway. The matter is being dealt with seriousness."

Meanwhile, the blame game has already begun. Political parties are blaming the UP government. BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria, for instance, said,"This is an example of UP government's failure. The Akhilesh Yadav government must resign on moral ground."

Congress leader Barkha Shukla condemned the incident while BJP leader Hriday Narain Dixit drew the attention of the Chief Minister to the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. [Read more in IBN Live]
