MP Govt selling off over one lakh tons of onions
Indore, July 23: MP State Cooperative Marketing Federation (MARKFED) today started the sale of the onion stock which it had purchased from farmers when the prices had hit the rock bottom.
MARKFED is selling the bulb stock at Rs 4 per kg, against the purchase price of Rs 6 per kg. "We have started selling the onions, which we had purchased on the direction of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, at Rs 4 per kg.

We are hopeful that 90 per cent of stock will be sold within two weeks," the state Chief Secretary Antony DeSa said.
The remaining stock will be stored and put up for sale in September. When the prices plummeted due to a bumper crop in June, the Government through MARKFED purchased a total of 1,04,000 tons of onions.
