MP Egg Seller, UP Juice Vendor Shocked by Crores In Tax Dues They Never Owed: 'If We Really Had ₹50 Crore...'
Two small-scale vendors from India have recently been shocked to receive Income Tax notices demanding substantial amounts for transactions they neither conducted nor were aware of.
In Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district, Prince Suman, an egg seller, was issued a notice alleging he owed ₹6 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) for a ₹50-crore business he had no knowledge of.

The notice revealed that "Prince Enterprises" was registered under his name in Delhi in 2022, engaging in leather, wood, and iron trading with huge transactions over the past two years.
Suman, who operates a modest egg-selling business, stated, "I only sell eggs on a cart. I have never been to Delhi, let alone start a company there."
His father added, "If we really had ₹50 crore, why would we struggle to meet daily expenses?" The family suspects fraud, alleging that Suman's personal documents were misused. They have approached both the police and tax authorities to investigate the matter.
Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, juice vendor Md Rahees received a notice demanding over ₹7.5 crore for alleged "bogus" transactions in the 2020-21 fiscal year.
Rahees, who operates a small juice stall, expressed his confusion and distress, "I don't know why this notice has been issued. I only sell juice. I have never seen so much money. What should I do now?"
His mother added, "We struggle for our daily meals... If we had so much money, why would our son have to work so hard?"
Investigations suggest that Rahees's personal documents may have been fraudulently used for donations during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.
Both families have called on authorities to investigate the misuse of their documents and the erroneous tax notices.
