Shimla, Aug 17: The monsoon in Himachal Pradesh subsided after last week's heavy showers and similar conditions will continue till Thursday, a weather official said on Sunday.

"Precipitation occurred at a few places since Saturday. With this, the maximum temperatures rose by one to two degrees Celsius," an official of the Meteorological Department told IANS.

However, there was no appreciable change in the minimum temperatures.

The weather bureau said the towns of Narkanda, Kufri, Shimla, Dharamsala, Palampur and Manali recorded no rain.

However, picturesque tourist resort Dalhousie received 18 mm of rain, while Chamba town got nine mm of rainfall.

"The monsoon will be subdued till Aug 21 with chances of light rain at some places," the official added.

A government spokesperson said that water level in the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries, which were in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts, has started receding.
