Mokama MLA Anant Singh Gets Bail By Patna High Court In Dularchand Yadav Murder Case

After spending over four months behind bars, JDU MLA Anant Singh is finally set to walk free. The Patna High Court granted him bail on Thursday, bringing relief to the strongman-turned-politician and his supporters. If formalities go as expected, he could be out of Beur Jail within the next 48 hours.

Singh had been in custody since early November last year in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav - a case that drew significant political attention during the heated Bihar Assembly elections.

A killing that shook the campaign

The incident dates back to October 30, 2025, when Dularchand Yadav was shot dead in Mokama while campaigning for a candidate of the Jan Suraaj Party. A former RJD leader, Yadav's killing added tension to an already charged election atmosphere.

Within days, Singh was named the main accused and arrested. Since then, he remained lodged in Beur Jail, with his earlier attempts to secure bail being turned down.

Winning from behind bars

Even jail could not keep Singh away from politics. Contesting the Mokama seat from custody, he registered a comfortable victory, defeating RJD's Veena Devi by more than 28,000 votes. The result once again underlined his deep-rooted influence in the region.

Though he has taken oath as an MLA, his time in jail meant he could only play a limited role in legislative affairs.

Hints of release and what lies ahead

Just days ago, Singh briefly stepped out to attend the Bihar Assembly and vote in the Rajya Sabha elections - where he confidently told reporters that his release was near.

In a significant political signal, he also said he would step away from contesting future elections, especially after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar moved to the Rajya Sabha. Singh indicated that his elder son would carry forward the family's political legacy from Mokama.

For now, all eyes are on Beur Jail, as supporters wait for the moment their नेता walks free once again.
