Mohandas Pai Criticises Indigo Airlines Over Poor Passenger Treatment and AC Issues on Flight

Former Infosys CFO T V Mohandas Pai has voiced concerns over Indigo Airlines' treatment of passengers. He highlighted issues with air conditioning during a recent flight. On December 29, Pai shared his experience on social media platform X, detailing the discomfort he faced on flight 6E 7407 in Bengaluru.

Mohandas Pai Critiques Indigo Airlines Service

"Indigo treats its passengers badly. Sitting in 6E 7407 without AC on hot tarmac in Bengaluru. No way to treat passengers. Only after protest, staff used a tarmac generator for AC. Please change your protocol," Pai stated.

Indigo Airlines' Response and Explanation

In response to Pai's complaint, Indigo Airlines explained the situation regarding the aircraft involved. A source from the airline clarified that the aircraft was an ATR model, which is a Franco-Italian design. This model's air conditioning system only functions when the aircraft is airborne.

The source further elaborated that while on the ground, the air conditioning does not work because the engines are not operating at full capacity. This results in insufficient hydraulic pressure to power the air conditioning packs. Additionally, the cooling fans depend on the aircraft’s propeller, which remains stationary when parked.

Feedback and Customer Service Commitment

Indigo Airlines assured Pai that his feedback would be communicated to the appropriate team for evaluation. "Sir, thank you for taking the time to meet our airport team. At Indigo, customer comfort is of utmost importance to us," stated the airline.

The airline also expressed gratitude for his patience and understanding, saying, "We assure you that your feedback is noted, and we will share it with the concerned team for necessary review."

Pai's experience has sparked discussions about passenger comfort and service protocols within airlines. The incident highlights the challenges faced by airlines in balancing operational constraints with customer satisfaction.
