RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the Akhil Bharatiya Kalasadhak Sangam, emphasizing the need for Sanskar Bharati to be prepared for attempts to alter societys culture through art. He stressed the importance of preserving Indias self-esteem and highlighted the role of art in shaping culture.
Bengaluru, February 3: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the need for Sanskar Bharati to be prepared to combat attempts to manipulate society's culture through art. Addressing the Bharat Muni Samman Samaroh during the Akhil Bharatiya Kalasadhak Sangam organized by RSS-affiliate Sanskar Bharati, Bhagwat highlighted India's journey towards rediscovering its self-esteem after years of independence.

Art's Dual Role: Popularity and Cultural Alteration
Bhagwat cautioned that art has been employed for both achieving popularity and altering societal culture. He expressed concern that art could sometimes be used to propagate negative cultural influences, necessitating Sanskar Bharati's readiness to confront such challenges.
Building a Collective of Artists for Cultural Growth
The RSS chief stressed the importance of Sanskar Bharati cultivating a diverse group of artists who can not only contribute to the growth of India's own culture but also guide the global cultural landscape.
India's Resurgence and Rediscovery of Self
Bhagwat expressed optimism about India's rise and self-identification, attributing it to the arrival of Ram Lalla in the newly constructed temple in Ayodhya. He acknowledged that while India gained independence 75 years ago, it took considerable time for the nation to truly embrace its self-esteem and Indianness.
Neglect of Indianness and Sanskar Bharati's Role
Bhagwat criticized the historical neglect of Indianness in various aspects, either by governments or the people themselves. However, he commended Sanskar Bharati for organizing the Akhil Bharatiya Kalasadhak Sangam, which he believed marked the end of such neglect.
The Significance of Art and Music in Life
Underscoring the profound impact of art and music on human life, Bhagwat quoted a Sanskrit verse that likened a person devoid of music and art to an animal without a tail. He emphasized the transformative power of these creative expressions in enriching individuals and society as a whole.
Mohan Bhagwat's address at the Bharat Muni Samman Samaroh highlighted the crucial role of Sanskar Bharati in safeguarding and promoting India's cultural heritage. By recognizing the potential misuse of art for cultural manipulation and emphasizing the need for a collective of artists, Bhagwat set the stage for Sanskar Bharati to play a pivotal role in shaping India's cultural landscape and fostering a sense of national pride and self-esteem.
