'Everybody including Modi conspired against my son,' says Shivakumar's mother

Residence of D K Shivakumar's mother was also searched by Income Tax officials.

Slamming the BJP government for the raids on her son, Karnataka Minister D K Shivakumar's mother accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of targeting her son. The Congress leader's mother, Gowramma said that everybody conspired against D K Shivakumar but such raids won't scare her family.

"This is being done as a political vendetta because my son is taking care of the MLAs from Gujarat. Who other than the BJP and Modi can do such things? Of course, Narendra Modi is behind the raids and he will repent for it. My sons have done no wrong and such raids won't scare them. They are working to save the party," said Gowramma speaking to the media.

When asked about the Karnataka government registering protest over the manner in which the raids were conducted, Gowramma told another channel that none, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, came to Shivakumar's defence. "Nobody came to my son's support but are now putting up a charade. My son has worked for the party," she added.

Income Tax officials raided the residence of Gowramma as well as part of searches against Karnataka Minister D K Shivakumar. Gowramma claimed that the officials did not disclose the purpose of their visit initially. She said that they took signatures on a few papers after which they carried out searches.

"IT officials came home and carried out searches. At first, I did not know who they were. They spoke to me cordially and so did I. They asked me questions about my sons and I answered. They asked me to sign some papers and searches started as soon as I signed," she said.

Gowramma claimed that the BJP was targeting her sons for attempting to work for the Congress. "He is trying to save the Congress in Gujarat and unleashing such raids on him at such a time is not right. My sons have worked hard to earn money, fame and power in the state and such tactics won't deter them," she added.
