Modi to Release Rs 20,000 Crore Aid for Farmers at PM-KISAN Scheme Event in Washim on October 5
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the 18th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on October 5 in Maharashtra's Washim district. This event will benefit over 9.4 crore farmers nationwide, distributing Rs 20,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The initiative underscores the government's dedication to enhancing rural development and agricultural prosperity.

With this latest instalment, the total disbursement under PM-KISAN will surpass Rs 3.45 lakh crore, supporting more than 11 crore farmers across India. In Maharashtra alone, Rs 32,000 crore has been transferred to approximately 1.20 crore farmers over 17 instalments, marking it as the second-highest recipient among all states. This time, around 91.51 lakh farmers in Maharashtra will receive benefits exceeding Rs 1,900 crore.
Additional Benefits for Farmers
The Prime Minister will also announce an additional benefit of about Rs 2,000 crore for Maharashtra's farmers under the fifth instalment of the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana. This move aims to further support the agricultural community in the state. The event will be attended by around 2.5 crore farmers via webcast, including participants from 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over one lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and five lakh Common Service Centres.
In addition to these financial aids, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate 7,516 completed projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) to the nation. These projects are expected to significantly enhance agricultural infrastructure and productivity across various regions.
Technological Advancements and Initiatives
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 9,200 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), which are crucial for empowering small and marginal farmers by providing them with better access to markets and resources. Furthermore, he will launch a Unified Genomic Chip for Cattle and Indigenous Sex Sorted Semen Technology, aimed at improving cattle breeding practices in India.
Additionally, an E-Distribution of Social Development Grant to Gram Panchayats will be initiated alongside five solar parks under MSKVY 2.0. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach towards sustainable development and energy efficiency in rural areas.
This series of announcements and initiatives highlights the government's ongoing efforts to bolster agricultural growth and support farmers across India. By integrating technological advancements with financial aid, these measures aim to create a more resilient and prosperous agricultural sector.
