New Delhi, Nov 11: The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday termed as "foolish decision" the Modi government's move to demonetise Rs500/1000 notes and said BJP President Amit Shah was living in a "glass house" and was unaware of the "hardships" faced by the common man.

The party also asked Shah to "refresh" his memory on BJP's stand in 2014, when the then UPA government had planned to demonetise currency and his party was against it.

AAP criticises demonetisation by Modi

"Amit Shah, who is making wild claims about the ill- thought decision of his party's central government to withdraw Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes will do well to once again see his party's own stand of January 2014, about the same decision.

"Shah should have thought twice before attacking his political rivals, including AAP, since he is living in a glass house and is not aware of the ground realities of the common man facing unnecessary hardships as a result of the foolish decision of the central government," it said.

AAP Delhi convenor Dilip Pandey said the party would like to hold a mirror to Shah and refresh his memory by showing him what the BJP had said on the issue of demonetisation of currency in January 2014, when there were reports of the then UPA government trying to implement it.

It was shelved it and the reports were denied by the then RBI Governor Raghu Ram Rajan, he said.

AAP also quoted the January 23, 2014 statement of BJP leader and MP Meenakshi Lekhi in which she had said people with small savings, no bank accounts and their small life savings, will be targeted.

"The aam aurat and aadmis those who are illiterate and have no access to the banking facilities will be the ones, hit by such diversionary measures...

All the black money holders will legally convert their tender with no difficulty because they have the resources to hire people to sort their cash. This measure is strongly anti-poor," she had reportedly said.
