Modi government has failed to revive economy: Congress
New Delhi, Dec 30: The Narendra Modi government has failed to revive the economy, Congress leader Anand Sharma said on Wednesday, Dec 30.
"On economy front, the government is clueless how to revive the economy... We are not doing well in any sector," Sharma said while addressing the media.

He said the 19 months of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government were marked by "unaccountable centralisation of power, policy making and administrative decisions" leading to an "authoritarian style of functioning which resulted in breakdown of the structures of governance which has paralysed administration and undermined institutions".
"The welfare system the UPA had built has been weakened (now). The government made major cuts in education, health and women welfare," he said.
He said the GDP to rising debt ratio, which was brought down from 63 percent to 48 percent, has gone up to 53 percent in one year.
"If you go by the old method of GDP calculation, growth is only 5.2 percent," he added.
He also pointed out that the farming sector was depressed and the Modi government has failed the farmers.
Sharma accused the BJP government of being "insensitive to the poor and under-privileged people".
"It has shown callous disregard to the plight of the Indian farmers, who have been severely affected by the ongoing agrarian distress, floods and droughts in many parts of the country," he said.
