Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemns cowardly attack on Peshawar school

New Delhi, Dec 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described the terror attack on a Peshawar school as a "senseless act of unspeakable brutality".

"Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack at a school in Peshawar," Modi tweeted. [Peshawar school attack: As it happened]

"It is a senseless act of unspeakable brutality that has claimed lives of the most innocent of human beings - young children in their school. My heart goes out to everyone who lost their loved ones today. We share their pain & offer our deepest condolences," the tweet added.

Over hundred people, including 84 children, were killed when heavily armed terrorists launched a brazen attack on the army-run school in Pakistan's Peshawar city.

All the injured have been admitted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. About 500 students and teachers are believed to have been taken hostage by the terrorists who have taken them to the school auditorium.

Pakistani security forces have cordoned off the school and gunbattle is on with the terrorists.
