Moderate to heavy rain lashed isolated places in UP
MeT office here said today that chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms at Saharanpur-14, Katerniaghat 13,Daurahara-9, Shahjahanpur-12, Bhinga 4 ; Biswan, Bareilly-3 each; Mahrauni, Moradabad, Kalpi, Auraiya- 2 each; Paliakalam, Sitapur, Churk, Basgaon, Robertganj, Hardoi, Etawah and Lalitpur-1 each.
The weathermen forecast that rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over the state in the next 24 hours with heavy to very heavy rain/thundershowers at isolated places over the state during next 48 hrs
Two die in heavy rains in Dakshina Kannada district
Mangalore: Two persons hailing from Dakshina Kannada district lost their lives in separate rain related mishaps since yesterday.
Sekhar Poojari, 45, a labourer and resident of B Casba village at Bantwal near here accidentally slipped and fell and was washed away in the Nethravathi river, while he was washing his feet last evening. Though the locals rescued him and took him to a nearby hospital, his life could not be saved, Police said.
In another incident, Abhishek, a eleven year old student met with a watery grave slipping into the still water in an abandoned quarry near his house. Though efforts were made to save him, he died before being brought out, they said.
All the rivers and rivulets are overflowing and rain water has entered several houses in the coastal regions of Dakshina Kannada district, official sources said. A number of families have been shifted to safer places by the district administration, they added.
