MNS Chief Raj Thackeray Warns Maharashtra Govt, Threatens To Set Fire To Toll Booths
In a recent statement, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has issued a stern warning to the state government. He declared that his party workers are prepared to set fire to toll booths across the state if they face any hindrance in their mission of ensuring small vehicles are exempted from paying toll charges.
Accusations of Toll Collection Scam

While addressing reporters in Mumbai on October 9th, Thackeray expressed his belief that toll collection in Maharashtra is the largest scam in the history of the state. He stated, "I have sought an appointment with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the next couple of days. Will see what comes out of that meeting, otherwise, keeping Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' statement in mind, MNS workers will gather at every toll booth and ensure that four-wheelers, three-wheelers and two-wheelers are not charged tolls. If we are stopped, we will set it ablaze."
Political Promises Unfulfilled
The MNS leader was referring to Fadnavis' comment made on Sunday where he asserted that small vehicles would be exempted from paying tolls. However, according to Thackeray's allegations, despite various political parties coming into power over recent years none have fulfilled their promise of making Maharashtra a toll-free state.
Toll Booths: A Lucrative Source for Politicians?
Raj Thackeray went further by accusing politicians of using these toll booths as a means for personal gain. In his view many politicians profit daily from their share collected at these booths. This accusation adds another layer to this ongoing controversy surrounding road taxes and its implementation within Maharashtra.
In conclusion, this issue has sparked fierce debate within political circles and among the general public. The MNS chief's strong words reflect the intensity of this dispute over toll charges in Maharashtra. As Thackeray awaits a meeting with Chief Minister Shinde, it remains to be seen how the state government will respond to these allegations and threats. Regardless of the outcome, this controversy has shone a spotlight on the broader issue of political accountability and transparency within toll collection practices.
