Mumbai cops' moral policing leaves Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam disappointed

Nigam's reasoning with the police did not help as the personnel stuck to their point saying that the event was spiritual and that he should not be singing such songs.
When Nigam said that he did not have too many devotional songs in store, he was asked to sing patriotic songs instead. Meanwhile the crowd waited for the cops to leave the stage when the singing resumed. From his experience, Nigam said,"I quickly understood what I was expected to sing and avoided popular hits, concentrated instead on 'desh bhakti' songs from films like Border and soft melodies from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kal Ho Na Ho. I also sang the Kurbaan song later."
However, he was satisfied when the event went off well without any further stoppages.
