MITRA Should Lead Efforts to Enhance Priority Sectors in Maharashtra, Says Devendra Fadnavis

The Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing key sectors, ensuring the state remains a leader in India, according to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In a meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, he identified mining, group farming, solar energy projects, and bio-fuel as priority areas. MITRA is designed to act as a guiding force in these sectors.

MITRA to Boost Maharashtras Key Sectors

Fadnavis highlighted the importance of group farming, noting that there are currently 400 such groups in Maharashtra, with most performing well. The benefits from agriculture, water resources, horticulture, marketing, and other related departments will be integrated to empower farmers economically and socially. This approach aims to provide comprehensive support to the farming community.

Focus on Priority Sectors

The state has established MITRA following the model of NITI Aayog. The institution is tasked with boosting priority sectors to maintain Maharashtra's leadership status. Fadnavis emphasised the need for MITRA to serve as a guiding force in these efforts. The government aims to consolidate assets and converge various schemes for better efficiency.

Efforts are being made to reduce the fiscal deficit while expediting water conservation projects and implementing state data and mining policies. These measures are part of a broader strategy for Maharashtra's overall development. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of these initiatives during the meeting.

Development Projects Under Review

The Chief Minister reviewed several ongoing projects, including the Jayakwadi solar project and biogas production from agricultural waste. Additionally, he assessed progress on the international zoo at Gorewada in Nagpur district. These projects are part of the state's efforts to promote sustainable development and innovation.

Fadnavis called for a focus on asset consolidation and scheme convergence to enhance efficiency. He also urged for expedited water conservation efforts and effective implementation of data and mining policies. These steps are crucial for achieving comprehensive growth across Maharashtra.

By prioritising these sectors and initiatives, Maharashtra aims to strengthen its economic position while fostering sustainable development. The state's strategic approach involves leveraging MITRA's guidance to ensure continued progress and leadership in key areas.
