Missed in Bihar Voter List? Check How You Can Register Before Polls

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced that over 7.4 crore individuals are eligible to vote in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. The voting will occur in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with results expected on November 14. Eligible voters can still add their names to the electoral roll until ten days before the nomination deadline.

The final voter list, published on September 30, includes over 7.24 crore voters. If there are any discrepancies, appeals can be made to the district magistrate. This list was shared with political parties to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.

Voter Demographics and Registration

Gyanesh Kumar detailed that Bihar has a total of 7.42 crore voters, comprising 3.92 crore males and 3.5 crore females. Additionally, there are 14 lakh first-time voters and 4 lakh senior citizens among them. This demographic data highlights the diverse voter base participating in these elections.

In case a voter's name is missing from the list, they have until ten days before candidates file their nomination papers to rectify this by adding their name. After this period, no further additions will be allowed, and the election will proceed based on the finalised list.

Ensuring Fair Elections

The Chief Election Commissioner emphasised that any lapses from electoral registration officers should be reported for correction through an appeal to the district magistrate. This measure aims to maintain fairness and integrity throughout the election process.

The announcement regarding voter eligibility and registration procedures was made during a press conference in New Delhi, where Kumar also revealed the election dates for Bihar's assembly elections.
