Miscreants who had killed cop, shot dead in police encounter

Gwalior, Dec 8: Two dreaded miscreants, who had killed an Assistant Sub Inspector and injured three other persons, were shot dead in a police encounter near here, a senior police officer said today.

"The miscreants last night jumped the police barricade on Morena Link road.We passed on the information to the Bahodapur area police ahead and when two of them were intercepted at Jalalpur village, they opened fire on law enforcers, District Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh said.

The police opened fire in self-defence, in which Vikki Valmiki, a resident of Morena district and Sonu Nagar, a resident of Gwalior were killed. The police recovered ASI R S Gautam's service revolver with which the miscreants had decamped.

The miscreants had run amok and shot dead Gautam in an inebriated condition as well as injured three other persons after firing at them here on December 2.
