Chhattisgarh: Class 6 girl molested in school by peon

Korba, Aug 14: A class VI student was allegedly molested by a peon at a government school in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, police said today.

The accused has been arrested, they said.

The accused, identified as Umangram (58), molested the 11-year-old girl in the school premises at Urga in the district on August 12 following which the victim informed her parents about it, Urga police station SHO Gopal Vyas said.

Based on a complaint lodged in this regard yesterday by the girl's parents, the peon was arrested, he said.

The accused was booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and section 8 of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offence) Act, the SHO said, adding that further probe was on.

Block Education Officer Sandeep Pandey suspended the peon with immediate effect after the case was lodged against him.
