Ministers in Chhattisgarh to fund their election expenses

Bastar, Oct 24:The BJP has now decided not to fund sitting ministers in the Raman Singh-led cabinet, contesting in the coming elections. The ruling BJP has fielded 12 ministers, apart from Raman Singh to contest in the polls next month.

Meanwhile, each candidate is entitled for a 15 lakh fund for the election expenses. But that would be paid in instalments. The money would be given from the party fund. On the contrary, the Election Commission had entitled 16 lakhs for each member campaigning and electoral process. A BJP spokesperson said that it has been a tradition that established members of the party who have been a part of the cabinet are no assigned any funds and manage their own campaign expenses.

Meanwhile, the election commission, the first instalment of Rs 10 lakhs has been credited to their accounts through Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). The candidates have been asked to provide the party with their bank details.
