Mine Collapses in Jharkhand's Dhanbad: 3 Dead, Several Feared Trapped

In a devastating incident that unfolded near Dhanbad in Jharkhand, an illegal open coal mine in the Bhowra colliery area collapsed, resulting in the loss of three lives, while leaving many others trapped inside. The tragic event occurred at approximately 10:30 am on Friday, catching locals engaged in illegal mining activities off guard.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the Dhanbad police and a dedicated rescue team promptly arrived at the site, working tirelessly to extricate those trapped beneath the rubble. The Sindri Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) expressed that the exact count of casualties and the number of individuals still trapped would be determined once the rescuers successfully locate the victims.

The ill-fated mine was reportedly under the jurisdiction of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). In response to the incident, the police have requested a comprehensive report from the company, after which appropriate action will be taken.
