Assam: Militant dies after being apprehended by Army
Guwahati, Aug 19: A Birsa Commando Force (BCF) cadre died after he was apprehended by the Army in Assam's Sonitpur district, a Defence spokesman said today.
Acting on specific intelligence, Army personnel apprehended a BCF cadre in New Ghaghra village of the district yesterday and the militant, identified as Sonagadi Nag, led the patrol party to a hideout where a 9 mm pistol, a magazine and five live rounds of ammunition were dug out.

The Army unit, thereafter, started documentation and subsequent handing over the cadre to the police station when Nag complained of chest pain and uneasiness.
The cadre was immediately taken to Gohpur Government Hospital where doctors referred him to Tezpur Medical College, but enroute his condition deteriorated and he was taken to Government Hospital, Biswanath Chariali.
The medical officer in there tried to resuscitate him but, later declared him "dead."
The Army personnel were carrying out a detailed investigation into the incident, the spokesman said. An FIR has been lodged by the Army at Gohpur police station yesterday and the recovery has been deposited with the police, he added.
