New Delhi, July 4: There are 226 militants waiting to cross over into Kashmir, the Indian Army says. Lt General KH Singh, the General Officer Commanding (GoC), 16 Corps informed that these militants are waiting to be launched from Pakistan and the Indian Army is on high alert.

The statement by Lt General Singh is yet another confirmation of the fact that Pakistan has increased its aggression and they do not appear to be relenting on the Kashmir issue.

Numbers could rise:

Currently as per the intelligence that the Indian army has gathered there are nearly 226 militants waiting to cross over into India. There are around 36 launch pads that have been set up in the various Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Tayyeba camps.

These launch pads have been specifically set up to launch militants into Kashmir the intelligence also suggests. Further it has also been found that there is a lot of activity on the Pakistan side of the border and these militants are waiting for the right time to cross over.

However they have been finding it difficult to infiltrate as the Indian Army is on high alert. Various attempts by the Pakistan Army to fire indiscriminately to cause a distraction has failed.

The Pakistan Army has always used unprovoked firing as a tactic to cause a distraction so that the militants can infilrate.

Hizbul Mujahideen most dangerous:

According to the Intelligence Bureau, the Hizbul Mujahideen continues to pose the biggest security risk in Kashmir. The Lashkar on the other hand is being used by Pakistan to battle against the Tehrik-e-Taliban.

When the Pakistan Army launched its anti terror operations following the Peshawar school attack, it had roped in some of its proxies such as the Lashkar to wage the war on their behalf.

However, for the Indian Army the current problem is the Hizbul and the incidents of the recent months have shown how the outfit has been getting aggressive.

The Hizbul is trying to strike the right balance in Kashmir. While on one hand it has indulged in terrorist strikes on the other it is also trying to propagate a very ISIS styled agenda.

It has also been targeting former militants who are suspected to have become spies of the Indian agencies. In addition to this the Hizbul is also not claiming responsibility for any of these attacks as they fear losing out on local support.
