Pawar's Endorsement of Patil's Candidature Causes Unrest Among NCP SP Aspirants in Indapur

Sharad Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) SP president, recently hinted at Harshavardhan Patil's candidacy for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. This move has upset some NCP leaders who were hoping for a ticket from the Indapur constituency. Patil, who recently left the BJP, joined the NCP SP on Monday in Sharad Pawar's presence.

Pawars Support for Patil Stirs NCP SP Tensions

Patil is expected to contest from Indapur in Pune district, his home turf. During a gathering, Sharad Pawar's appeal to voters to support Patil was seen as an endorsement of his candidacy. This announcement has caused dissatisfaction among loyal party members in the area. Notably, no political party in Maharashtra has officially declared candidates for the elections yet.

Local Discontent and Reactions

Local NCP SP members like Pravin Mane, Appasaheb Jagdale, and Bharat Shah expressed their disappointment. They questioned why their efforts during Supriya Sule's Lok Sabha campaign were overlooked. Sule, Sharad Pawar's daughter, was re-elected from Baramati in June for the fourth consecutive time.

Jagdale announced a meeting of party workers on October 11 in Indapur to assess local sentiments. He demanded that Patil's candidacy be reconsidered. Jagdale warned of potential unrest within the party if this decision isn't reviewed. Patil has represented Indapur multiple times before.

Addressing Concerns

Supriya Sule acknowledged the growing discontent among some party workers. She stated it would be her responsibility to address their concerns and ensure their voices are heard. The Indapur seat is currently held by the ruling NCP led by Ajit Pawar.

The situation highlights internal tensions within the NCP as they prepare for the assembly elections. The decision regarding Patil's candidacy could significantly impact party dynamics in Indapur and beyond.
