Confirming the news, an Air India spokesperson stated, "Air India confirms that an incident of unruly passenger behaviour was reported to the cabin crew operating flight AI2336, from Delhi to Bangkok, on 9 April 2025. The crew followed all laid down procedures, and the matter has been reported to the authorities. In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist an aggrieved passenger to take up a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time.

The standing Independent Committee will be convened to assess the incident and determine the action, if any, to be taken against the unruly passenger. Air India continues to follow the SOPs as laid out by DGCA in such matters."

More Details

While the official statement has not revealed the names of the passengers, a report in Republic claims that the accused is Tushar Masand, who was seated in 2D, urinated on Hiroshi Yoshizane. The latter is said to be the Managing Director of Bridgestone India, who was in seat 1D.

The victim then raised the issue with the crew and senior cabin crew members Sunpreet Singh and Rishika Matre assisted him by giving him towels to clean up. They then moved Masand away from the seat. Hiroshi was then taken to the lavatory to change his clothes while the captain was briefed on the situation.

Another passenger, Matthew, seated in 1F, voiced safety concerns and demanded that Masand be moved out of the business class cabin. After using the restroom, Masand repeatedly apologized to Hiroshi, who chose not to file an official complaint, saying he did not want to delay his plans after landing.

This is not the first such incident on an Air India flight.

On November 26, 2022, an intoxicated man urinated on a female co-passenger during a New York-Delhi flight. Just ten days later, another drunk male passenger allegedly urinated on a female traveler's blanket on a Paris-New Delhi flight.
