Metro worker dies as tunnel ring falls on him

New Delhi, July 29: A worker died when a segment of a temporary tunnel ring fell on him at an under construction Delhi Metro site, officials said.

A Delhi Metro statement said the incident occurred around 9:45 am at the under construction Dashrathpuri Metro station on the Janakpuri West - Kalindi Kunj corridor "when a segment of a temporary tunnel ring fell on the labourer during its dismantling".

"The labourer, 26, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Bhagat Chandra Hospital, where he was declared dead," it added.

The chief project manager of the corridor is investigating the incident.
