Merchant navy officer arrested for allegedly stalking, harassing DU students

    A 29-year-old merchant navy officer has been arrested for allegedly stalking & harassing a student of Delhi University.

    The accused has been identified as Suraj Dey (29), working with a Hong Kong-based company. He was arrested after a girl filed a police complaint against him.

    It is leant that Dey, who live in Amar Colony, had met a girl, studying in DU in a park. They exchanged their phone numbers after the accused told her that he was looking for a PG accommodation for his friend. Dey initially started calling and texting the girl, seeking information about PGs, but later on, started flirting with her.

    In her complaint, the victim said that Dey started misbehaving with her after a few days.

    When she didn't respond to his calls and messages, he started sending her vulgar messages and pictures. Later, Dey began threatening the girl.

    The Police revealed that the accused was using multiple phone numbers and threaten the students if they do not respond to his calls or block his numbers.
