Witchcraft or act of sickness? Men gangrape dead woman

Lucknow, Oct 25: In a gruesome incident, three men in Ghaziabad exumed the body of a 26-year old woman and gangraped her.

The woman had died during child birth and her body was found by local residents, lying naked 20 feet away from the grave.

The three men were also found lurking around the body. The residents informed the police immediately after encountering the horrific sight.

A senior police official said that the incident can be linked to witchcraft.

However, the official said,"According to the Indian Penal Code, there is no clear definition as ‘sex with the corpse' but if an accused is proven guilty of such acts, he/she may be convicted under Section 297. Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code could also be invoked."
