Mehbooba says Jammu clash 'unfortunate', calls for harmony
Srinagar, June 5: Ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and MP Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday termed as "unfortunate" the death of a person in a firing incident in Jammu and called for maintenance of communal harmony in the state.
"Mehbooba has expressed anguish over the unfortunate incident in Jammu which resulted in the death of one person. She conveyed her sympathies to the family of the deceased and prayed for peace to the departed soul," the PDP said in a message here.
One person was killed and six others, including two policemen, injured in clashes between police and a group of youth protesting against removal of posters of slain Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the winter capital.
Omar criticises Mehbooba for defending PSA against Alam
Mehbooba urged various sections of the society to maintain communal harmony and strengthen bonds of brotherhood and amity for which the State is known all over.
She also called for exercising maximum restraint while dealing with such incidents. PTI MIJ SMN
