Mehbooba Mufti to be sworn in today
Srinagar, April 4: After weeks of uncertainty over the Jammu and Kashmir leadership, Mehbooba Mufri will finally take the oath today as the chief minister of the state. However, this has brought intense speculation about how close the new government will be to the BJP.
In fact, unlike her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba has little patience with the BJP. Meanwhile, the former chief minister of J&K, Omar Abdullah thanked Mufti for inviting her to the swearing-in ceremony.

The new would-be CM, however, was clear about her intentions and wanted the state to know that it was with extreme reluctance that she was forming the government with the BJP. The latter is attempted to have forced Mehbooba to renegotiate the portfolios. In fact, the BJP has been unhappy that all state-related portfolios have been taken by the PDP.
Meanwhile, the BJP is facing resistance from within the party as legislators are demanding Cabinet positions in the state. The party has said that some leaders may be left out because of poor feedback from their ranks.
J-K was under the governor's rule after the death of sitting chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's demise on January 7.
