Meeting seers, Dalit leaders: Amit Shah's priority during Karnataka visit

The BJP national president is arriving in Karnataka at a time when the state BJP has been suffering setbacks in succession over various issues.

BJP's National President Amit Shah will tour Karnataka for three days starting August 12. Given the political situation in the state, Shah is expected to meet a host of seers, heads of religious institutions and prominent Dalit and OBC leaders.

As part of the Vistarak program, Amit Shah has made it a point to visit and dine at Dalit homes. In Karnataka too, Shah will hold meetings with Dalit leaders apart from visiting mutts. Amit Shah is expected to land in Bengaluru at around 10.45 AM on August 12 and head straight to the BJP headquarters in Malleswaram. The BJP in Sunday's state executive meeting planned the welcome program for Amit Shah.

On August 13, Shah will visit the Adichunchanagiri mutt and before the end of the day, he will visit Sri Sri Ravishankar at his ashram. Shah is expected to meet vistaraks from Karnataka and receive reports about the places that were covered. This information will form the basis of BJP's poll strategy in Karnataka.

On the last day of his three-day tour, Amit Shah is expected to meet leaders of the BJP from regions where the party is the most vulnerable. with the information gathered through the vistarak program, the BJP hopes to chalk out plans to strengthen the party in regions that it lags.

On August 14, Amit Shah is expected to hold separate meetings with the party leaders, leaders from the SC/ST community and OBC leaders independently. The BJP, that has so far been on the backfoot on many issues in Karnataka is expected to revive its prospects after Amit Shah's visit when its plan of action for the upcoming assembly elections will be strategized.
