Meet Kshitij Tyagi: The Indian Diplomat Who Powerfully Defended India at the UN

In a bold and unwavering stance at the United Nations, Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi delivered a resounding response to Pakistan's repeated attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue. Standing firm on India's sovereignty, Tyagi dismantled Pakistan's baseless allegations, calling it a "failed state" that "survives on international handouts" and is in no position to lecture others on human rights. His powerful words at the seventh meeting of the 58th Session of the UN Human Rights Council reinforced India's diplomatic strength on the global stage.

A Diplomat of Grit and Excellence

Kshitij Tyagi is not just a skilled orator but a diplomat with an extraordinary journey. An engineer-turned-Indian Foreign Service officer, Tyagi's credentials are as impressive as his diplomatic acumen. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, followed by an MTech in thermal energy and environment engineering from the same institute.

His professional career began with Jones Lang LaSalle, a renowned real estate company, where he worked as a business analyst. However, his passion for public service led him to join the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy as a scientist in 2010. Recognizing his true calling, he took on the challenge of India's civil services examination and successfully cleared it in 2012, paving the way for his journey in diplomacy.

Tyagi's first assignment as an Indian Foreign Service officer took him to the Indian Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2014. From there, he continued his diplomatic journey, serving in Brazil and Egypt, before securing a crucial role at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in 2024. Within a year, in January 2025, he was promoted to the esteemed position of Counsellor at the mission-a testament to his dedication and brilliance.

A Fierce Voice for India at the UN

Tyagi responded to Pakistan's baseless accusations about Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations with courage and clarity. In his remarks, he denounced Pakistan's persistent lies, saying, "It is regrettable to see Pakistan's so-called leaders and delegates continuing to dutifully spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex." His statements reflected India's firm opposition to misinformation and outsider intervention.

He also stated that Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh were and will always be a "integral and inalienable" part of India. He stressed India's accomplishments in the region, saying, "The unparalleled political, social, and economic development in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years speaks for itself. These achievements demonstrate the people's faith in the government's determination to restoring normalcy to an area devastated by decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism."

In a striking rebuke, Tyagi urged Pakistan to abandon its "unhealthy obsession with India" and focus instead on governing its own people with justice and accountability. His response was not just a diplomatic rebuttal but a firm assertion of India's sovereignty and progress.

India's Rising Diplomatic Strength

Kshitij Tyagi's powerful stand at the UN reflects India's growing influence in global diplomacy. His words reaffirm India's unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and national integrity. As a rising star in India's diplomatic corps, his dedication and clarity in defending the nation's interests serve as an inspiration to many.

India continues to shine on the world stage, standing tall against misinformation and external interference. With leaders like Kshitij Tyagi, the nation's diplomatic future is in strong and capable hands.
